Richland FIT coalition meeting May 3rd from 12:00 to 1:30 pm

Find out how to support the 2016-17 work plan for the Wisconsin Partnership Program ongoing since 2012 in Richland County.

Top priorities include:

1. Expand the EBT program at the Farmers’ Market
2. Launch a Point of Purchase campaign
3. Continue to grow the Farm to School program
4. Maintain a community wide campaign
5. Develop a mission and vision for the FIT coalition

Mill Pond Community Garden

Volunteers are needed to help build the community garden.

We are looking for volunteers to help us assemble the garden boxes, fill the boxes, lay mulch around the beds and get the garden ready to go! Below is the list of dates we need individuals, we have indicated the number of people needed and the tasks that we hope to accomplish on each day. In addition, we are IN NEED OF BATTERY POWERED DRILLS to assemble the beds, if volunteers can bring those along with the additional equipment listed that would be appreciated. Meet at the parking lot where the old community center was, 600 W. Seminary Street.  If you have questions contact Dana Fischer, 649-5968

Tuesday, May 12-5:30 pm

  • 20 people (or more)
  • Work in groups of 2 to assemble raised and elevated beds.
  • Place them and begin filling with dirt.
  • Please bring: cordless drills(need 10 ), shovels, levels,

Thursday, May 14-5:30 pm

  • 20 people (or more)
  • Finish building remaining raised/elevated beds
  • Place them and fill with dirt
  • Please bring: cordless drills(need 10 ), shovels, levels, wheel barrow, rakes, buckets

Tuesday, May 19-5:30 pm

  • 25-30 people
  • Lay mulching around the beds
  • Please bring: shovels, wheel barrows, buckets, rakes

Thursday, May 21-5:30 pm

  • 25-30 people
  • Lay mulching around beds, spray paint numbers on beds
  • Any finishing touches
  • Please bring: shovels, wheel barrows, buckets, rakes

You can download the PDF version or request a hard copy. The guide lists outdoor recreation areas in Richland County including; trails, parks, fishing streams, Pine River access points etc.
